Boxing Results: Bohachuk TKOs Davis In WBC Eliminator
Serhii Bohachuk (25-2, 24 KOs) looked powerful and determined on Saturday night, destroying Ishmael Davis (13-2, 6 KOs) by a sixth-round technical knockout in a WBC Junior middleweight title eliminator at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,
Davis’ trainer pulled him out after the sixth round, as he’d taken a lot of hard punches from Bohachuk five and six. It was no longer competitive by that point, and Davis was soaking up huge shots.
Bohachuk’s Relentless Assault
The former WBC interim 154-lb champion Bohachuk was coming off a controversial decision to Vergil Ortiz Jr. last August, but tonight, he was like a shark, attacking his opponent, Davis with power shots.
Late in round two, Bohachuk nailed Davis with a short left hook to the head that flattened him. Luckily for Davis, 29, the knockdown came in the final seconds of the round because he could not have escaped if it had occurred earlier.
The way that Bohachuk stalked the Matchroom-promoted Ishmael Davis around the ring was Golovkin-esque. Indeed, he was like a little GGG in that he put steady pressure on Davis, hammering him hard with punches on the inside and not allowing him to escape for a moment.
In an interview, Davis said that he felt that Bohachuk was vulnerable on the inside and thought he could capitalize on him fighting in close. He tried that tonight, and it was a disaster.
Bohachuk was initially supposed to face former WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov, but he pulled out due to illness.
On Track For Fundora
It’s too bad he didn’t stick with it because that would have been a lot more interesting to watch than tonight’s mismatch. Ishmael Davis is a domestic-level fighter from the UK. He’d only fought once against a world-class fighter, losing to Josh Kelly last September.
With the win, Bohachuk is now mandatory for WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora. Depending on whether the World Boxing Council enforces it, he’ll likely get a title shot against him in 2026.
