“I Didn’t Go To Court”: Haney Denies Filing Lawsuit Against Garcia Today
Devin Haney denied that he attended court today for his lawsuit for battery against Ryan Garcia from their April 20th fight.
Lawsuit Reports
There was a report earlier today that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) had attended court in the morning to file a 12-page lawsuit for âbattery and bodily harmâ against superstar Ryan. However, Haney, 26, denies going to court.
Devin isnât saying whether he intends to drop his lawsuit or stick it out to the bitter end, hoping to satisfy him for what happened on the night seven months ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Thatâs an evening that the former two-division world champion Haney would prefer to forget. He took a real bashing from Garcia, who dropped him three times and probably would have knocked him out if heâd put his foot on the accelerator.
It looked like Ryan relished the beating he inflicted on the young phenom, wanting to prolong the suffering for as long as possible. He smiled while he beat the living daylights out of poor Haney in that fight. Towards the end of the fight, Garcia showed a glimpse of compassion for Devin, looking at Bill and wanting him to throw in the towel to save his son.Â
Fans would obviously prefer that Haney focus on rematching Garcia, and proving that heâs better than him inside the ring rather than going to court. Thatâs perceived as a weak move.
I ainât go to no damn court.. foh

âBig Newsâ Tease
Papa Haney, Bill, has been talking about âBig newsâ coming for Devin soon with his comeback fight. This is going to look bad if Haneyâs next opponent is a ham & egger rather than a top-10 contender or a world champion. If they trot out some no-hoper as Devinâs opponent, Bill is going to look silly standing there.
Haney has the popularity to get a straight shot against one of the champions at 140 or 147 for his next fight. He doesnât have to get in line and earn the title shot like most contenders, but his self-confidence might not allow him to take that risk. Garcia may have dented his self-belief with the three knockdowns he scored on that night 237 days ago on April 20th.
âWhile they talk, we work. While they doubt, we deliver. Self made. Self paid. We donât answer to nobody. Big news coming soon,â said Bill Haney on X, talking about Devin.
